Morgan Heim has launched Eco Leads, a story source for conservation photographers. It is a free monthly newsletter that gives photographers the scoop on fresh science news just begging to become a photography project. Morgan attended the Summit when a student at the University of Colorado and has been pursuing a freelance career after school in the area of environmental issues. We’re happy to announce our new workshop website, completely redesigned to better illustrate the workshop experience, provide a platform for educational content created at the workshops, and keep you up to date on the latest news in photography. Please take a moment to check out our expanded video and image gallery. We have plenty more video content in the works, so look for more updates coming soon.
We are working hard to finalize details for our 2010 programs and will have dates, locations and other information posted to the site shortly.

This print and on-line magazine, published by Daylight Community Arts Foundation, is a non-profit showcase for contemporary documentary photography featuring the work of established and emerging artists, scholars and journalists. Founded by Michael lItkoff and Taj Forer as winners of a Howard Chapnick Grant for developing leadership in photojournalism, the website features documentary work from around the world, news from the profession and listings of grants and scholarships.

James Hill, the New York Times photographer in Moscow, produced a remarkable behind-the-scenes look at the Russian penal system made famous by words — those of Solzhenitzyn’s devastating portrait of the gulag. The pictures appeared in the Times and can be seen on their website: nytimes.com/world. Hill has been on the Summit faculty twice.

David Burnett has a unique sense of place, importance — and humor. Thus, he has crafted a video from his trip to the olympics in Beijing — that is particularly enjoyable. Entitled “The Olympics You Didn’t See,” it shows what an American press corps person sees, experiences and copes with covering the olympics.

We’ve recently added a new series of videos, Conversations at the Summit, to our SummitWorkshops YouTube Channel. This new series is comprised of short interviews with leading photographers and editors in the field, who happen to be regular workshop faculty, discussing various topics in photography.

2007 Sports Photography Workshop attendee Lars Møller just returned from 3 weeks in Beijing covering Danish Olympic athletes competing in the Games and posted a great set of pictures on his agency’s website, SportsAgency.dk.

Reuters and MediaStorm collaborated to create Bearing Witness: Five Years of the Iraq War to coincide with the war’s 5th anniversary. The site features profiles of three Reuter’s journalists who have more than 23 years combined experience reporting and photographing in Iraq. Reuters video, photography, infographics and journalists are showcased in this five chapter interactive application created from more than 20 hours of video footage and images selected from 3,600 of the best of Reuters photographs — some published for the first time.  Brian Storm, founder of MediaStorm, will be on the spring Conservation Summit faculty, to discuss the creation of online rich media projects.
