Summit faculty alum David Alan Harvey has created a $5,000 grant for one exceptional photographer to help support their personal work. Applicants may submit a selection of 20 photos max with a submission deadline of November 15th, 2007. Further details are available from Harvey’s blog.

Laura Williams, attending the spring Photography at the Summit session last May brought her beautiful set of bird pictures from South Dakota. Now, millions can enjoy one of them — selected as Photo of the Month in National Geographic magazine and on their web site. The picture of mallards taking off from a South Dakota pond was part of her portfolio that workshop instructor David Griffin (the Geographic’s director of photography) first saw at the Summit.
