Brad Smith

My Story

Most recently, Brad Smith was the Director of Photography at Sports Illustrated — which amounted to a full circle,  for he began his career in picture editing/administration as one of the crew of picture editors at the magazine more than 25 years ago. Over the years and in between, he was the photo editor and assistant director for the White House during the Clinton Administration, and for twelve years, he was sports picture editor of The New York Times. He has been a regular instructor at the Sports Photography Workshop for much of the last 20 years, where he has been one of our most effective faculty members. At the workshop, he is not only a careful portfolio reviewer/career counselor but also an effective recruiter of new talent.
